Inspector Amar Rahe !!

27th April 2017 : Today this handsome man passed away !

Vinod Khanna, the name brings visuals of a smiling handsome man dressed probably in a white jacket and goggles on his forehead. This bollywood actor can be singled out to be addressed as “Dashing”. No other star from the industry was bestowed with such features. He not only looked good but also radiated happiness. Handsomeness was equated with Vinod Khanna.

For my generation … Vinod Khanna was the only actor who deserved the official sanction to bash up Mr. Bachchan on screen . No other actor would have been tolerated by the spectators to do these honours.  Vinod Khanna invariably in every movie stood as strong as the big B. The best part was the ease with which he carried himself on screen. He was never a type cast …  he was so natural that it was almost impossible to mimic this star. You will rarely find him mimicked at any shows.

He may not have enjoyed the superstardom as Rajesh Khanna or Amitabh Bachchan but I am sure he would have had more fans and many more lady fans, than any other actor, cherishing his photographs in their personal dairies. He had a pleasant smile … for anyone to fall in love with him.

For me personally … Inspector Amar is truly Amar (immortal) and of course so are Akbar and Anthony. Infinite times I have watched this movie’s final song and the fight sequence. As a kid I had always relied more on Inspector Amar to win that fight than on Akbar and Anthony. Seems funny … but that was the greatness of the character played by him. Qurbani, Dayawan and Satymev Jayate  (after his comeback)  are some movies which have been watched many times by me. His dialogue “ Jis school mein tum padhte ho … hum us school ke headmaster reh chuke hai “ from “Haath ki Safai” has become apart of real life situations and is seen used colloquially among friends to show supremacy on a lighter note. …

He pursued spirituality seriously to the extent of quitting films during his prime time and experience a life of austerity and selflessness, after his comeback  he not only entered politics but also became a minister. He received the 1999 Filmfare lifetime achievement award.

Some of his memorable movies for me are  …Achanak, Mere Apne, Imtihaan, Inkaar, Amar Akbar Anthony, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Parvarish, The Burning Train, Qurbani, Satyamev Jayate, Dayawan.

God certainly had bestowed this man with everything and must have surely planned something  SPECIAL for him beyond the  journey of this life.

Vinod Khanna … Insp. AMAR RAHE !!
